Arndale management team Sept 2016

Eastbourne Arndale Centre’s first apprentice Lorna Glover has been taken on full-time following the end of her 13 month apprenticeship.

Former Sussex Downs College student Lorna, 19, was given an administrative apprenticeship with the Arndale Centre last July. Her new role will be Retail Liaison and will involve a range of responsibilities including working with tenants in the Centre.

She was appointed as an apprentice after a rigorous interview procedure that involved tough competition from other candidates.  In addition to retail experience with Primark and Morrisons, Lorna had also achieved a distinction in her Business BTEC diploma.

Centre Manager Bill Plumridge said: “Lorna was the first apprentice we appointed and we have been very impressed with the way she has developed into the role during the past year. Lorna’s confidence has grown as she has tackled new tasks and we are really delighted that she is now joining us as a full time member of the team.”

Lorna, who lives in Eastbourne, said: “I decided I didn’t want to go down the university route because I prefer a more hands on approach that combines working and learning. There has been a lot of learning and coping with new experiences in the past year but I’ve really enjoyed it all and am looking forward now to my new role.”

A second appointment has been made at the Centre with Denise Pearson joining the team as Centre Administrator to work in finance and administration.

Denise, also from Eastbourne, has vast experience in all areas of finance, administration and office management having worked in the manufacturing and education sectors. Bill Plumridge added: “we interviewed extensively for this important role within the Centre Management team and Denise was the stand out candidate. We are delighted to welcome both Lorna and Denise to our team.”

Denise joins Bill, Lorna, and Operations Manager Mark Powell in the management team at an exciting time in the Centre’s history with work on an £85 million extension due to start later this year.
