Sainsbury’s Eastbourne (in the Arndale centre) is taking part in Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival to help raise money for Eastbourne Foodbank.

The theme of this year’s Carnival is the Queens 90th Birthday, so colleagues from the store will be dressing up as a few of the Queens favourite things to help raise funds and awareness for the foodbank that started in 2011, after a local church who were operating a debt counselling project became aware of the extent of food poverty in the town. They provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis and are part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The Carnival is taking place on the 11th June starting at 4pm going from the Western Lawns to Princess Park, if anyone would like to come down to support. Howard Wardle Eastbourne Foodbank’s trustee said ‘Eastbourne Foodbank massively appreciative the support that the Sainsbury's team are giving. As we work together we can continue to make a real positive difference in the lives of the 700 people who need our help and support each month. ‘
