New entrances planned for Arndale Centre extension

Exciting new entrances are planned for the Eastbourne Arndale Centre as part of the £85 million extension.

A new planning application to create contemporary glass entrances to the Centre has been submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council.

The shopfronts and facades of the existing Centre will be upgraded to be in keeping with the style of the new entrances.

Work on the west entrance, and the centre façade along the western end of Terminus Road, will be carried out this year in advance of the demolition work for the extension.

The 170,000 sq ft scheme, arranged over two floors, will contain an additional 22 retail units and seven restaurant units, as well as a multi-screen digital cinema and significant extension to the car park.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Next will be the third major anchor for the scheme that has also signed up H & M and Cineworld.

Michael Barrie, Director of Fund Management at Legal & General Property, said: "The new entrances to the shopping centre have been designed to mirror the design of the extension, and with work on the west entrance expected to start this year, it means that local people will get an early taste of what their new centre is going to look like."
